Shipping industry and logistics industry, both of them have been changed electronically as the world technology trend. Since the relationship between the two industries is intimate, if their transportation process could be integrated by information technology, it will create a great benefit. For doing this, the e-portal is an ideal way. In this research, four e-portals will be studied, from Trade-Van Information Service Corporation in Taiwan, NiceShipping Technology Corporation, and Maritime Transport Network Portal of Taiwan Transportation Department. The goal of the research is to integrate and analyze shipping and logistics industry through the e-portals, and discuss its impact on the shipping and logistics industry in Taiwan.
This research revealed that e-portal is a newly developed technology in Taiwan, if the industries can use the service provided by the e-portal properly, and the e-portals can manage steadily, e-portals will be a great potential for the integration of shipping and logistics industry. Though different information level problem still exist, whatever, e-portal should be a helpful intermediary for the integration of shipping and logistics industry. Furthermore, e-portal can be an ideal way for the globalization of the two industries. |
