  The Department of Civil Engineering (DCE) will be in charge of the jobs of track rehabilitation and maintenance and (R&M) for the Taiwan Railway Administration (TRA), and the qualities of R&M will be depended on the management ability of DCE. In present situation, DCE have executed the planning rehabilitation, but DCE still is lack of the systematic management, such that the data of dynamic inspection will not be central control, and the data of static inspection are still in handwriting. Therefore, these situations will result the incompletion of inspection data. In order to integrate all of inspection data into one track R&M system by DCE, and then implement those track inspection data to be the basis foundation for track R&M, and check the deterioration conditions of tracks. This study can improve the efficiency of the track R&M.
  The methodology of this study includes (1). Interview with the staffs of DCE in order to familiar with the present R&M procedures of TRA, (2). Use literature review such as the regulation of DEC, route map, and handwriting checklists, (3). Use the Visual Basic to develop a computer programming for the track R&M system. This system includes four parts such as (1). Formulate the basis data of tracks, (2). Build the input format of track checklist, (3). Build the working plan for track rehabilitation, and through this plan to remind the suitable rehabilitation schedule, (4). Construct the track management system, and by this system, the engineers can evaluate the track defect conditions, and then calculate the P value of tracks.
  This study has constructed the preliminary structure of track R&M system for TRA. By this system, the engineers of DCE can key-in the basis data of track; key-in the rehabilitation data of track; calculate the P value of track; manipulate the above information to set up the suitable rehabilitation schedule. Finally, it is desired that this system can improve the efficiency of the track R&M for TRA.
