This study constructs a model for the operating performance indexes (including on-time rate and execution rate) of carriers to explore the impact of airlines’ uncontrollable factors on operating performance, and then develops a correction function based on this. Closely reflect the operating performance of airlines to enhance the effectiveness and fairness of the carrier operation and service evaluation system.
According to the difference in data units between domestic and international routes,the model was constructed using the multilevel probit model and the fractional probit model respectively, and the flight distance and sea transportation replacement rate were used as the main observation and control variables, and the airline's load factor, average aircraft age, airport traffic volume, airport market concentration and other explanatory variables were added, expect to quantify the degree of influence of various factors on airline on-time and execution rate. The results of the models show that: (1) the flight distance and the sea transportation replacement rate are important factors that
affect the airline's on-time rate and execution rate; (2) the airport traffic volume has a negative and significant impact on the on-time rate and execution rate of the domestic airline market, and airport market concentration has a positive and significant impact on airlines’ on-time and execution rates at airports; (3) The difference in the proportion of flight areas does have an impact on international routes. Based on the model results, this study also discusses the index correction function, adjusts the influence of nonairline- controlled factors such as flight distance and sea transportation replacement
rate on operating performance, and compares the difference before and after, and specifically shows the difference between correction or not.. |
