| Summary | Many countries are promoting electric buses as an effort to address the deteriorated environmental issues. However, due to the characteristics of electric buses, such as travel mileage and charging time, extra conditions need to be considered while scheduling vehicles. This study proposes a mechanism of scheduling electric buses taking bus types, allowed traveling distance, and charging time into account aiming to minimize the total operating cost. The enhanced genetic algorithm is adopted to generate the required number of electric buses, the number of each type of chargers, and the assigned duties. The data of 390 trips on six routes of Kaohsiung in PTX are collected for testing purposes. The result shows that the proposed solution technique is promising and effective. |
