| Summary | During the past few years, the artificial neural network approach has been quite attractive for various transportation problems. A fair number of reports are available in the literature. However, no thorough assessment has been done to examine their usefulness in the domestic transportation context. This study aims at extensively collecting, reviewing and categorizing related reports conducted by domestic researchers. The resulting assessment provides comprehensive information of current conditions on neural network applications to the transportation fields. Based upon this article, it is possible to further evaluate the feasibility of field implementation of neural network models. Future research on neural networks in the transportation areas may as well be sensibly arranged. |
