| Summary | The intercity bus transportation has been playing an important role in public transportation market in Taiwan. To improve the operational environment of bus transportation industry, the government has programmed and executed the subsidy and evaluation schemes. This, together with routine responsibility of route and fare reviewing, has increased the challenges and pressures of the authority agencies. To contend with this, the development of a management information system of bus transportation featured with the functions of spatial analysis and geographic display is very urgent as, if well developed, it would help the authority agencies to operate more efficiently and effectively. The purpose of this study is to investigate the features of the existent management information systems pertaining to bus transportation and to identify the fundamental requirements in the scope and functions of the management information system of bus transportation. In addition, some proposals were made in regard to the follow-up needs in the development of such a management information system of bus transportation. |
