| Summary | Amelioration of air quality is a continuous project that receives much attention from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications. Due to its complexity of composition, high toxicity, small particle size and spatial distribution close to people's living environment, mobile pollution source has a great influence on public health. The Ministry of Transportation and Communications should take the initiative to resolve air pollution problems, and seeks ways to control the increasing number of vehicles. Therefore, this study focuses on the current problems of traffic pollutions in Taiwan, and reviews them in detail. We also collected relevant policy measures for controlling traffic pollution in other countries. With reference to these policies, we propose five strategies including fourteen measures and thirty-six recommendations, divided into short term, medium term, and long term. These strategies can be divided into regional emission reductions, outdated vehicles management and applicable legislation. We propose that implementing both encouraging and compulsory measures, emissions from mobile sources can be effectively reduced. |
