| Summary | It is obvious that the Sun Yat-Sen National Freeway has played an important role on the economic development of Taiwan for the past decade. The completion construction of Sun Yat-Sen National Freeway is not only to affect traffic characteristics, but to change land-use patterns along the freeway. Because the traffic demand increased rapidly, the traffic volume was going to reach Sun Yat-Sen National Freeway designed capacity. Thus, the second freeway is necessary to be built. The purpose of the project was to undertake a study research about the land-use patterns and the traffic characteristics change trends along the Northern Taiwan Second Freeway. The project was divided into four phases according to the construction progress schedule of individual section of the Northern Taiwan Second Freeway. This phase was the second one whose purpose was to undertake a before-and-after study for the Hsichi-Hsinchu section of Northern Taiwan Second Freeway. Due to the construction delayed, this phase modified the study area which became focused on the Hsichi-Mucha section. All of the study results and survey data could be provided to other related projects or researches as important and useful reference data. |
