| Summary | Intersections are the most accident-prone location in a road traffic system. Due to the mixed motor traffic with high concentrations of scooters, it makes traffic problems more complicated in Taiwan. In order to enhance road safety, this study focuses on promoting and applying traffic safety design guidance to make traffic safer and more friendly.MOTC completed the "The Guide Manual on Traffic Engineering Safety Design Based on the Accident Types at Intersections" in 2020 to improve road safety. The "The Guide Manual on Traffic Engineering Safety Design Based on the Accident Types at Intersections" is based on the common accident types at intersections and compiles traffic engineering improvement design examples for each accident type, which can be applied to the improvement of intersection-related accidents. Therefore, this project compiled a systematic curriculum of theories, methods, procedures, and other techniques, and invited road traffic authorities and traffic engineering professionals throughout the country to conduct six educational training sessions and practice at 12 actual intersections. Through theoretical and practical operations, we will lead each county and city to change their procedures and concepts in order to implement them locally. The actual application results will be used to continuously review the manual's contents and make changes as needed |
