Summary | The soil deposits in Southwestern coast area, which include Yunlin, Chiayi, and Tainan City, are Holocene alluvium with loose packing and the compaction has not been completed yet. These deposits are prone to strata subsidence due to excess loadings from water pumping, hydraulic fills, surface structural loads, and seismic activities. Significant strata subsidence will affect the safety of infrastructures and harbor facilities. In the stratification subsidence measurement, the wireless profile-settlement gauge is used on the PuDai Harbor, DaPeng Bay, Taichung Harobor, and AnPeng Harbor to establish temporal settlement profiles. These data are collected to develop a database for subsidence analysis of the harbor area and for the maintenance of the earthquake disaster rapid reporting system. Benefits and Research Results: 1. The earthquake disaster rapid reporting can provide liquefaction assessment data in the harbor area for the reference of disaster relief personnel. 2. The strata subsidence and earthquake data in the harbor area can be used in the design, construction and earthquake engineering of harbor structures. Applications: 1. The strata subsidence and earthquake monitoring data of the harbor area are provided to harbor management companies for the maintenance of harbor structures. 2. The research reports published can serve as a reference for the industry, government and academia. |
