| Summary | The study assesses the status of outbound transportation, inter-island transportation and intra-island transportation in the Matsu area and reviews its future growth forecast of transportation demand. In addition, the island’s tourism potential was evaluated based on review of case examples of foreign island tourism. The conclusions were: (1) the total supply of Matsu's overall transport system is more than adequate, but the reliability and standard of service are inadequate; (2) the major trend of air transport between the two sides is obvious; airport facilities should be continuously improved to enhance flight reliability;( 3) Matsu has the potential to develop island tourism, yet the depth of tourism remains to beimproved. (4) The transportation system required for the development of island tourism remains to be strengthened. |
