Dept Transportation Safety Division
Year 1996
Summary

The economy has been growing dramatically and the national income has also been increasing rapidly in the Taiwan area for the past few years, and automobiles have become a common means of transport. It is expected that the policy of providing convenient traffic turn to a policy of solving traffics jam during peak hours. Although the concern for traffic has stepped into a different subject, there are still some problems that have been ignored by the public. These problems are a lack of convenient traffic for primary school students, the disabled and elderly people. The study focuses on the development of a Taiwanese barrier-free transportation service system to satisfy the operation efficiency and people with disabilities’ demand for transport. The purpose of this project includes:

  1. By use of barrier-free transportation service system, to plan a proper service for people with disabilities and meet transportation efficiency.
  2. In comparison to the planning and hardware of different operational demonstrations on specialized dial-a-ride service for people with disabilities, we will constitute a rational barrier-free transport service model, which can be used as a reference to improve the current transport system of people with disabilities and to propagate the barrier-free transportation environment.
