| Summary | The taxicab is an auxiliary mode between private and public transportation. It not only has the user-pay characteristic of public transportation but also has the private transportation characteristics of being convenient, rapid, comfortable, and door-to-door service. Ill management of the taxicab operation would lead to poor service quality to the public; furthermore, it would cause security problems to both taxi drivers and users. This study explores the feasibility of employing advanced telecommunication technology for the development of a Taxicab Operational Security Management System. With such a system, we hope to prevent criminality from happening, and we also hope that the time for dealing with the criminality could be shortened. Finally, this study proposes a demonstration system schema. It is hoped that a demonstration project would be initiated in the near future for the evaluation of the system performance prior to the large-scale deployment of the system. |
