Summary | Implementing road traffic safety management system, notably ISO 39001-2012 is one of the potentially effective countermeasures to reduce road traffic fatalities and serious injuries. In the past two years, these series of studies have learned, explored, analyzed and continuously been promoting the implementation of ISO 39001 for highway transportation industry. Based on the previous study results, this study tries to develop a road traffic safety management mechanism to enhance institutional functions for motor carriers. The research tasks of this year are focused on (1) assisting two commercial motor carriers (i.e., Ubus and CTbus) to implement ISO 39001; (2) cultivating two institutes (i.e., Everest Engineering Consultants Incorporation and Taoyuan-Hsinchu-Miaoli Regional Center for Transportation Research) to help motor carriers implementing ISO 39001; (3) evaluating the safety performance of Capital Bus and examining its effectiveness of implementing ISO 39001; (4) developing a user guidance for applying ISO 39001 which includes contexts, clauses, procedure of certification, risk evaluation etc.; (5)developing a graduation program to promote road traffic safety management system for motor carriers in terms of their contexts and abilities; and (6) conducting a workshop for the corresponding stakeholders and elaborating the policy issues for implementing ISO 39001. |
