Summary The Greenhouse Gas Reduction and Management Act was published on July 1 2015, which informs that the long-term national GHG emission reduction goal of Taiwan shall be to reduce GHG emissions to no more than 50% of the 2005 level by the year 2050. In order to promote GHG reduction and energy conservation of the Transportation sectors, the achievements of this plan are as follows:
1. Deliberating on the international development of green transport policy, vehicle innovation and fuel efficiency improvement, and considering the specific characters of our society, review the achievement of 2012 Green Transport Policy of Taiwan, and propose the improvement suggestions to be included in the new draft of Green Transport Policy of Taiwan.
2. To fulfill the regulatory target of Transportation Sectors under GHG reduction management, analyze the future5-year GHG emission base line of the Transportation sectors, assess the GHG emission reduction contribution and gaps of each measure, and developed the draft of GHG Emission Control Action Programs for Transportation Sectors on the basis of the Action Plan pursuant to the foregoing paragraph.
3. To achieve the Nuclear Free Homeland Goal, we developed the energy conservation Plan of the Transportation Sector, which is based on the research of energy consumption in the transportation sector, fuel consumption structure and GHG emission and air pollution status of each vehicle. Future projects include proposals for public transportation improvement plans, vehicle upgrades, increased vehicle energy efficiency standards, electrical railways and electrical services for sea ports and airports.
