Title Flight Safety Study in the Taiwan Area
Dept Transportation Safety Division
Year 1996
Summary

Due to the fast growth of the domestic air transportation business in the country, the government is encouraging more private groups to be involved in developing public transportation systems in the Taiwan area. At the same time, we are worrying about the flight safety statistical record of the Taiwan area in the past 30 years, which is beyond the acceptable safety degree and is almost considered to be one of the countries of highly dangerous air transportation. The authority should provide security for domestic and overseas travelers while using airplanes as their transportation mode.

This research focuses on many of the subjects regarding the flight safety of the current domestic aviation system situation, including crew, air traffic control, airport management and safety, weather, aircraft performance, repair and maintenance, etc. From each side, which related to the civil aeronautics regulations, are analyzed according to their operational functions and the categorized problems. In this report, flight safety statistical information collected from Taiwan and other countries has been analyzed and compared. In addition, many previous accident or incident cases have also been examined carefully. They both are trying to identify the existing potential danger factors. The future improvement suggestions are made according to the practical needs. Hopefully, according to those efforts, flight safety in the Taiwan area can be enhanced in the near future.
