| Summary | The intersection in front of the Hualien Country Council Building in Hualien City is a large and multi-leg intersection. Disordered traffic of this intersection is caused by its complex but non-congested traffic movement flows. The intersection in front of Nan-Pu Gas Station in Chian town is a triangle area intersected by 3 roads (Provincial Highway No.9, Chung Cheng Rd, and Hai An Rd). Because a gas station is located next to the intersection, complicated network and flow result in chaotic traffic. In this study, by performing a field survey, we state the road and traffic conditions of these intersections in detail. And finally, some traffic engineering improvements are proposed. Moreover, it is also expected that this case study could be a demonstration of traffic problem solving procedures for government agencies. |
