Title The Study and Analysis on the Volume Investigation of Coastal Shipping Freight Traffic
Dept IOT
Year 1997
Summary The primary goal of this study is to analyze and investigate the characteristics and the origin/destination of passenger and cargo transportation of the coastal shipping in Taiwan. In addition, we are reviewing and analyzing the Blue Highway policy. The result shows that the deregulation, computerization and privatization policy of ports are good for the development of the coastal shipping. At present, there is no coastal shipping for passengers in Taiwan; nevertheless, it could possibly be developed as long as there are adequately related plans and policies. The coastal container transportation at lowest cost is currently performed in the International Shipping Lines. And, if the deregulation, computerization and privatization policy could be employed on it, the volume would increase. The coastal shipping of bulk is now well-performed, and its shipment demand has been increasing. If possible, the combined transportation by conbulkers could be developed, and thus it may improve the transportation of container and bulk in the eastern part of Taiwan.
