Title A Survey Study of Air Passengers from Taiwan Area to Hong Kong/Macau
Dept IOT
Year 1998
Summary Taiwan is actively planning to be developed into the Air Hub of Asia Pacific in the future. In order to understand the behavior of air travelers in the region, we choose the busiest international routes, Taiwan to Hong Kong and Taiwan to Macau, to carry out a survey of air traveler characteristics. Because of the rapid growth in business and personal travel between Taiwan and the Mainland China, the data of this survey will also be an important base for the planning and operation of the direct air passenger service between the two sides of the Straits in the future. The project schedules 36 survey days from September 1996 to August 1997, including weekdays, weekends, and major holidays such as the Moon Festival Holidays, the Double-Tenth Holidays, the Chinese New Year Holidays, the Spring Break and the summer vacation. The survey locations include the CKS Airport and the Kaohsiung Airport. Both Taiwan and foreign passengers are investigated. The characteristics surveyed include trip purpose, origin and destination cities, transportation mode, and trip duration. The data will be used for the analyses of issues and trends associated with air passenger transportation between Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau.
