Title | AN EVALUATION OF STRATEGICAL ALTERNATIVES FOR ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY DEVELOPMENT AT TAOYUAN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT |
Author | Hua-An Lu, Chi-Hsin Liu, Po-Ling Wang |
Summary | Environmental sustainability has been one of the essential development aims for modern airports. This study proposed an analytic hierarchy framework with four criteria, i.e., construction complexities, investment costs, possible improved effects, and appearance of social values. Each criterion includes four attributed sub-criteria to evaluate the priorities of selected possible alternatives in the case study for the Taoyuan International Airport (TPE). Through compiling expert opinions, the rank pair-wise comparison (RPC) results revealed that the most crucial criterion is construction complexities. System construction cost, international and domestic cross-unit collaboration, and improvement of the environmental ecology were ranked the top three sub-criteria worth noting. Results of gray relational analysis (GRA) showed that constructing green terminals, upgrading airport carbon accreditation (ACA), and reducing aircraft fuel consumption are the most adaptable alternatives for developing a sustainable TPE. However, experts’ opinions from different backgrounds have little variation. |
