Title The Influence On Transshipment Function Of Kaohsiung Port By The Trunk-Route Deployments In The East Asia And Cross-Strait Direct Shipping
Author Hui-Huang Tai
Summary

This study aimed at analyzing the trunk routes in East Asia, direct-links across Taiwan-strait, and exploring the potential markets of transshipment cargos for Kaohsiung port. The results showed that paralleled T/P (Transpacific-routes) and the soloed F/E (Far East/Europe routes) are becoming serious in East Asia at 2011. The direct-link routes would affect indirectly the trunk-route deployments around Taiwan by transshipment containers, and it is very important to Kaohsiung port. Whether the direct-link routes would be isolated from route-networks in East Asia; greatly depends on the transshipment boxes oriented from China. In the future, Northeast/Southeast Asia, and China/Southeast Asia, would be the two potential transshipment markets for Kaohsiung port to promote.
