Summary | When consumers purchase new or used vehicles, they will consider the safety performance of vehicles. They also focus on colors of vehicles in particular. It is curious that according to newspaper and the cognition of the peoples may have the following associations to road safety, for example, white or light-colored vehicles are more conspicuous. From a visual point of view, their safety is higher than dark. However, with regard to the above-mentioned related information, there is currently no relevant literature and research data supporting it. In order to explore the relevance of differences in vehicle colors with road traffic accidents, the study collected the traffic accidents data in Taipei from 2016 to 2017, and conducted sampling analysis in the type of two-cars collision by using the concepts of economics Location Quotient to compare and analyze the differences in the relative degree of accident risk among different vehicle colors. The results show that the risk of traffic accidents in dark-colored and black vehicles is higher than white, yellow, and bright-colored vehicles. In addition, from the perspective of the driver's visual, in the case of a good sight, the accident risk of yellow vehicles is lower than other vehicle colors. At the same time, the accident risk of dark vehicles is relative higher than other vehicle colors. Under the influence of factors such as rain or dim light, the accident risk of bright colored vehicles is relatively reduced, while the accident risk of black vehicles is relatively high. |
