| Summary | The impact of empty containers management is an important problem in the shipping industry and repositioning as an important issue in order to effectively and efficiently manage it. The empty container repositioning has received increasing attention due to asymmetric global trade and accumulation of empty containers, this issue it also has an important environmental effect not only affecting the economical sector; also aiming on reduce fuel consumption, congestion and emissions. The purpose of this research is to analyze the environment of empty container repositioning in order to create an exchange platform in charge to provide an innovative system by matching supply and demand side to facilitate the communication, improve the network and share information between shipping liners. The result of study show the empty container exchange platform provide a significant support since lack of information among liners and users of shipping industry providing time savings, cost minimized and generate job opportunities. |
