Summary | Public transportation is an important infrastructure for most of the countries. The design of public transportation service should meet the demands to reduce the operation inefficiency and waste of resources. Part of transportation demands is called “recurrent” since these demands occurred periodically with similar patterns. The priority goal of public transit administrators is to satisfy these recurrent demands.
This research proposed a methodology for obtaining recurrent transportation demands by using the Call Detailed Data (CDR). This research adopted data mining technique to find the people who had recurrent transportation demands, and discovered the frequent demand patterns though their daily travel chains. The testing results demonstrated that our proposed methodology was sound and the CDR was a good source for this purpose. The testing results also showed that the proposed methodology was applicable practically. |
