Summary | This project is conducted under the Improvement Program for Traffic Order and Safety, in response to a decree issued by the Executive Yuan. Through computer analysis of the accident data in 2004 in Taiwan area, the study identified the accident-prone locations throughout Taiwan area. To have a better understanding about those locations, field study teams were organized. The team members include the officers from the Road Traffic Safety Commission, the Institute Of Transportation, the Highway Bureau, the National Police Administration, the transportation bureau, as well as police and engineering offices of local governments. After in-depth discussions with the team members, this project has proposed an improvement plan for each accident-prone location. This year, totally 148 accident-prone locations have been identified. The total cost to improve those locations is NT$77,374,485 and the average cost for each location is approximately NT$520,000. |
