Summary With the rapid growth of aviation business, the global aviation operation is increasing by 7%. If the accidents on air transport cannot be improved, the number of accidents will double in the following 10 or 20 years. Countries all over the world try to raise the aviation safety level and allocate a lot of resources in human error studies to strengthen human performance. Our government places importance on human factor training, the airlines use crew resource management (CRM) to improve the abilities of dealing with a contingency or emergency of flight crewmembers, and academics conduct aviation safety related researches. These efforts can help to manage crewmembers to reduce the risk factors and the flight safety can be assured.
In order to set up the research foundation of air transport safety, the study first reviews essential air transport safety literatures of advanced countries to reveal their developments and future trends in air safety area. After summarizing the achievements, the directions of air transport safety issues can be decided to improve the flight safety of our country, which is to keep pace with international safety management system. The study can also lead the government, aviation industry and the academia to conduct further systematic and local research.
