Summary | The task of improving road safety involves numerous aspects. Most studies in recent years have analyzed road traffic accidents over the short term. However, in order to reveal accident trends, road crash characteristics need to be analyzed over the long term. In addition, road crash characteristics need to be thoroughly analyzed in all aspects in order to carefully explore various types of road safety issues. This study represents year two of an ongoing two-year project. The research results from year one provide the foundation for year two of the study. The project classifies the results into each county's and city's resource condition, promoted measures of road safety and its road accident characteristics. From the regional viewpoint, this study investigates the road safety problems of different types of cities and counties and provides countermeasures for each of them. In addition, this project performs experimental programs to investigate an implementation and evaluation mechanism for solving road safety problems. Finally, this project provides summarized suggestions relating to specific short-term and long-term road safety issues, countermeasures, safety performance evaluation indices, and evaluation mechanisms. |
