Summary | The purpose of this research is to apply Information Technology(IT) and harbor operation experience to integrate existing harbors' Management Information System(MIS), which function mainly in Electronic Data Processing(EDP), and develop a Decision Support system(DSS). The system designed to increase the operation efficiency and decision quality, based on harbor strategic plan, target management and operation plan & control. The pilot DSS Developed is based on Keelung Harbor's ship assignment process. The built-up "Manual Assignment Module", "Preference Assignment Module" and "Optimal Simulation Module" in the DSS are to assist berth assignment in real time basis. Moreover, a Graphical User Interface Module(GUI) is incorporated into the system to facilitate its operation and analysis. |
