Summary The pattern of traffic volume and characteristic of travel demand are the important basis of both short-term traffic improvement programs and long-term transportation planning strategies for transportation systems. Because of improved highway networks and increasing activities, the pattern of traffic and characteristic of travel demand may be different from the past one. In order to evaluate the impacts of the changes for specific area, including roadway sections and intersections, it is necessary to continue collecting data and conducting corresponding analysis.
This study conducted a traffic survey for Funliou-Fongang corridor. Furthermore, this study found out the K factor and Peak Hour Factor for this kind of rural highway system. After comparing with the prevailing data, we could find the results of this study are quite reasonable. In addition, those data should be better reference materials for transportation planning and/or improvement programs of similar highway characteristics.
