Summary Taxi driving is a very professional and respected occupation in foreign countries
however, due to the ease in obtaining a license in the taxi industry, entering and withdrawing from this market has become very easy in Taiwan and has also seriously affected the driver quality and the long-term working commitment. Due to the big environment gradually becoming poorer, if we cannot upgrade its competitiveness, the life of a taxi driver will become more and more difficult. Before obtaining a registration certificate to be eligible for this occupation, taxi drivers only need to attend a six-hour training lecture. The training content is limited and has little benefit to taxi drivers
therefore, they do not learn enough professional or basic legal knowledge. As a result, they do not fully understand the characteristics and perspective of this industry, which can lead to jeopardize the overall market quality due to a lack of awareness. This study has referred to foreign country management experiences in order to introduce new thoughts, concepts and a new education system. The goals are to provide taxi drivers with useful pre-job and on-job educational training so as to promote professional ability and knowledge, to encourage positive development in the taxi industry, to avoid unstable operation, and to make taxi driving become a professional and respectful occupation. Taxi drivers will have to regularly take on-job educational training to learn and understand the relevant changes in the traffic environment and regulations so as to avoid violations. The training is hoped to strengthen their professional knowledge and enhance driving safety at the same time.
