Summary | The purposes of this study are to investigate the crash characteristics of large motorcycles and observe riding behaviors of motorcyclists. Based on the findings of this study, several suggestions are derived as follows: 1.Government should gradually and conditionally lift the restrictions for large motorcycles on right-of-ways. 2.The satisfaction of leisure demand of motorcyclists should be the first priority. Therefore, this study suggests expressway system could be considered first. 3.Regarding the roadways, we find it is not appropriate to relax the restrictions on “two-step left turns” and riding on “prohibited lanes” without further study. In short term, we suggest that the government could initiate few trial projects for large motorcycles. 4.It is suggested that the supervising authorities should establish an advisory council to investigate and administrate people’s requests for lifting restrictions on large motorcycles. |
