Summary | According to the official letter of Executive Yuan’s Consumer Committee, we conducted the study. The purpose of the present research is to develop traffic improvement solutions for the alternative surface road’s traffic problems caused by the road users evading the freeway. The main solutions for the short term were traffic engineering methods. The research scope includes Shulin toll station, Hwaho road, and county road 114, and so on. The definition of a narrow sense for evading is that the drivers who exit from freeways to evade Shulin toll station and return to freeways from next interchange. 2.44 percent of drivers who exited from Tucheng freeway interchanges evaded the freeway by passing county road 114 and Tunyin railroad-crossing. 17.07 percent of drivers who exited from Tucheng freeway interchanges evaded the freeway. 20 percent of heavy-vehicle drivers belonging to a narrow sense for evading freeway passed the Tunyin railroad-crossing. 6 percent of passenger car drivers belonging to a narrow sense for evading freeway passed the Tunyin railroad-crossing. In all means, taking the highway has the lowest cost. We have built the road network data of the study area for PARAMICS simulation software, and simulated several situations of congested flows. For examples, the traffic signalization of intercross for Wenwha road and Gesan road, the interlock of Tunyin railroad-crossing’s warning signs and the near intercross traffic sign. There were some outputs of simulation experiments that we can refer to. We suggested to set up traffic engineering methods for some intercrosses and to make road users known about the balanced traffic network flow concept, and so on. |
