Summary | The research project, Demand Responsive Transit Services Study is proceeding into the next level, from theory discussion to the practice level. The main results of this year include the standard procedure of promoting DRTS, the DRTS system development and demonstrating project planning. The standard procedure of promoting DRTS is divided into three stages, feasibility assessment, operational model design and action plan development. The stage of feasibility assessment include two procedures. The first is from the socioeconomic characteristic measurement, to determine which area has the potential to proceed into the next stage, by using travel characteristic to define which area is appropriate to promote DRTS. For demonstrating project next year and to test that the standard procedure is functional, we select three cases, Taoyuan County, Ilan County and Taichung City, as the examples. Another major achievement of this project is the establishment of the DRTS application systems. The system is featured by DRTS operating characteristics and regional development needs. Main applications include the aspects of businesses operating, passenger order management as well as operational supervision and management. The system test reveals it's feasibility in practical applications. In the near future, the development costs can be reduced through technology transfer and further accelerating DRTS applications. |
