Summary | Published in March 2005 To meet the need of Taipei Harbor’s future development, the harbor and breakwaters will be extended to provide sufficient harbor basin for ship operation safety. Although the calmness of harbor is very important, but if the ship can safely enter or leave the harbor is more important. The ships that intend to enter Taipei Harbor are bigger than those planned before. Hence, a further numerical simulation for ship maneuvering is needed once again. In this study the suitable control factors of ship maneuvering of post-Panamax bulk carrier under different wind, current and wave conditions for Taipei Harbor are searched to identify the safety factors of ship operation. In this study, the new initial position of ship maneuvering and the layout of aid to navigation are proposed. Besides, the safety factors and operational plan of the ship maneuvering, as well as the type, layout and service of towing ship are suggested. The results show the ships can safely enter or leave the harbor under the proposed conditions. |
