Summary |
Climate change is impacting transportation system in various ways and will continue to do so for decades to come, owing to greenhouse gases emitted since the start of the Industrial Revolution. The extent of future climate change will depend on the effectiveness of efforts to limit further emissions of greenhouse gases and to manage other factors that impact radiative forcing. Therefore, climate change adaptation is required to reduce the threats presented to transportation system of all kinds by extreme climate.
Climate change risk assessment is key in this context. For responses to be delivered at the necessary pace and scale, it is important that risk assessment approaches are systematic and replicable, and the ISO 14090 series of standards provide guidelines on approaches to assess climate change-related risks. In order to understand the content of the ISO 14090 series of standards and then provide the transportation sector with the applications of adapting to climate change, this project uses case studies to analyze the feasibility of the ISO series of standards to improve the adaptation capabilities of the transportation system. |
