Summary | In recent years, not only have the highway networks in Taiwan been getting more complex, but also, more tourists have become attracted to unfamiliar local destinations. However, the road guide signs in Taiwan do not uniformly, systematically or efficiently provide sufficient information to drivers. This project is the third part of a 3-phase project entitled “The Establishment of a Manual on Uniform Guide Signs”. One of the main goals in this phase is to enhance and update the proposed manual from the first phase. This project also applied the output from demonstration roadways in eastern Taiwan and metropolitan areas, to obtain correction feedback for the proposed manual and software tool. In addition, this project provided a training course for representatives from organizations which actually perform road management and construction, such that both the manual and the software would be practically applied to guide sign planning. A promotional package has also been produced to introduce the products to road users and to guide them on how to plan a trip to reach their destination. Finally, this project made suggestions for amendment to the related laws or regulations. |
