Summary | Published in April 2004 IOT SERIAL No. 93-38-4179, 230 pp. T Taxicab, a commonly transportation mode, provides general public with convenient, rapid and door-to-door comfortable service, and relieves passengers from the trouble of car parking. However, if it is poorly managed, it can not provide the desired service to its customers, and it will become a problem in security. In order to improve the quality of taxicab service, it is necessary to employ new additional functions of the taximeter, such as elaborate fare rates control, driver qualifications control and service quality supervision. IC cards encompass the excellences of large memory capacity, durability, extended use age, fast processing ability, and high reliability. They also provide excellent logical judgment and numerical calculation functions, which enable them to access and manage information from multiple levels. It means many existing taxicab security problems can be improved better than before. The study has defined the requirements of a new IC card applying taximeter design, which should meet the future needs for taxicab operation, taxicab drivers’ quality control and passengers/drivers security improvement. The necessary administration rules reflecting the changes and needs mentioned above are also discussed and redefined in this study. Rules for managing IC card-applying taximeters, anticipating the improvement of taximeter functions, shortening administrative procedures, strengthening anti-fraud measures, automated drivers’ identity recognition systems, as well as taxicabs operations records etc were also drafted. |
