Summary | Published in February 2005 The traffic noise is a serious problem in many areas. The barrier is used for traffic noise control mostly. But lack of real measurement to get reduction of noise data. The noise control performance of barrier was doubt by the public. This project is trying to set a standardized in situ test method for traffic barrier. The insertion loss is the most relevant indicator of barrier’s efficiency. The measurement method, the standardized method ISO 10847 and ASTM S12.8 were applied for in suit test popularly. Those methods were studied on based. Three in suit experimentations were completed, two for road barrier and one for rail barrier. The equivalent continuous level Leq was used for road noise indicator and average maximum level Lmax was for rail noise to calculate the barrier insertion loss value. One of road noise measurement was taken approximated 24 hours. The barrier insertion loss was same level during daytime and nighttime data. The suitable sampling period can make the in situ measurement completed in two hours. It’s well to help the tester to exclude the worse background noise and meteorological conditions. |
