Summary | Taiwan joined the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2002. As one of global economic entities, Taiwan market is fully integrated with the world economy. As the result, the consumers may consume global products while firms may freely relocate globally to operate efficiently. The supply chain vertically integrates supplier's suppliers and customers to quickly respond to end-users demands with the most cost-effective operations. Taiwan 3rd-party logistics industry must respond to the evolving global supply chains. In this report, we survey and tabulate the regulations and policies on, and the current status and trends of, Taiwanese 3rd-party logistics industry. On the other hand, we survey and interview Taiwanese merchants in both Taiwan and China to realize their global logistics demands. Upon realized the global logistics demands, the regulatory environment and the trends, we develop the growth strategies for the 3rd-party logistics industry. We propose three major strategic directions:(1) the restructuring of Taiwan logistics markets, (2) the continuous development of seamless information transaction and integrated platform, (3) the match of Taiwan global merchants' logistics needs with 3rd-party logistics industry. The report ends with some recommended governmental policies for future application. |
