This study identified the accident-prone locations throughout Taiwan areas based on the analysis results of the 2005 accident data. To have a better understanding of these locations, a field study was conducted for each site. The team members participating in the field studies include the officers from the Road Traffic Safety Commission, the Institute of Transportation, the National Police Administration, the transportation bureau, as well as police and engineering offices of local governments. After in-depth discussions among team members, the research team proposes an improvement plan for each accident-prone location. This year, a total of 151 accident-prone locations were investigated. The total cost of improving these locations is NT$53,012,075 and the average cost for each location is approximately NT$350,000. |
