Summary | Passengers might not be provided with appropriate service and their safety could be endangered if taxi operation and management is not appropriate. Furthermore, latent problems could also arise for safety concerns. Besides the consideration of the safety issues of passengers, safety of taxi drivers is also an important concern. However, the space inside a taxi cab is limited, besides the installation of a in-vehicle fare-meters, vehicles participating wireless electronic dispatch services also require the installation of wireless electronic facilities and even GPS satellite positioning equipments. There are also surveillance equipments, travel-recording equipments, and other items, all of which occupy a considerable amount of space inside the vehicle. Facing those new technology applications, it is necessary to have a well designed inside vehicle equipment integration plan to ensure all installed equipments can be function in order. For these reasons, this study outlines, investigates and develops a management system for taxi internal safety to ensure the safety levels of both drivers and passengers. The contents of the study include: 1. Compiling and analyzing information on the types and functions of the equipments installed inside a taxi. 2. Compiling and analyzing systems and techniques for ensuring driver’s and passenger’s safety. 3. Designing a taxi internal safety system for domestic application, and developing a prototype system. This system should at least include the functions of dispatching, fare-calculation, travel-recording, and emergency reports. 4. Examining relevant rules and regulations, and proposing amendment suggestions if necessary. |
