Summary        The UAS Technology Industry Team of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications proposed “The 2025 Milestone for Taiwan’s UAS Application in Transportation” in its “2021 White Paper on Transportation Technology Industry Policy.” The goal is to complete Proof of Concept (PoC) and Proof of Service (PoS) for the shipping of daily material supplies in rural areas and outlying islands by 2024, as well as Proof of Business (PoB) by 2025, with the hope of establishing a standard operational mechanism.
Since 2020, the Institute of Transportation, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, has been conducting the Unmanned Aircraft System Integrated Pilot Program, and thus far, proof of concept (PoC) for UAS logistics operations site testing has been completed; this research connects the findings from the early planning stages, with a focus on two types of scenarios: “emergency shipping in rural areas” and “logistic distribution in outlying islands.” The emphasis is on UAS logistic service model planning and system development (including logistics UAS, logistics service software, UAS transportation management, and other systems). Concurrently, real-world operational experience and testing data were gathered to serve as the basis for Proof of Business (PoB) in the subsequent phase.
