Summary | Concerning the technology advantages of information and communications in Taiwan and the remarkable results of ITS deployment and investment by MOTC for more than the past ten years, this project proposes the concept of i3 Travel, which represents innovative thinking, intelligent information and services, and interesting travel and living. To accomplish the goal of providing first-class ITS services for tourists, this project focuses on Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area. Through the concept of information integration and active services, real-time and LBS (location based Services) traffic and travel information, quality and seamless public transportation services are offered to decrease the usage of private transportation modes in Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area. Tourists are provided with local instant travel information to make good decisions regarding travel plans. In the mean-time, they can enjoy the beautiful scenery along with the green and intelligent transportation services from the experience of travel while avoiding road congestion.
This project has studied well-known cases of ITS services in overseas tourist areas (for example, Japan) for reference. It also proposes the whole travel picture of the future vision of the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area for the next 10 years with promotional strategies and objectives in the short, medium, and long terms. Planning of the i3 Travel information system, planning and deployment of traffic and tourist information services and research of issues such as public transportation services, parking management, and low carbon tourist services are also included in this project. It is hope that the accomplishment and experience of this project will be useful as a good reference while ITS services are introduced into other tourism areas. |
