Summary | The National Development Council has released the ""Taiwan’s Pathway to Net-Zero Emissions in 2050," and the transportation sector of "Electric and Carbon-Free Vehicles " has been one of the 12 key strategies. The goal is to achieve the complete electrification of city bus by 2030. To accomplish this objective, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and the Environmental Protection Administration are actively promoting relevant strategies. Starting from 2019, the Institute of Transportation, MOTC (IOT) has established the Electric Bus Operational Data System, and set up data transmission protocols to continuously collect long-term practical performance for electric buses online. IOT holds a two-year project in order to continuously improve the overall operational quality of electric buses. In the first year, it aims to utilize the vast amount of static and dynamic data collected from the platform and cross-domain platforms (such as weather, driving behavior, battery capacity and discharge depth, charging, route patterns, etc.) to establish the key operational analysis indicators. Furthermore, the project has proposed a suitable big data analysis and application framework for electric buses in Taiwan and define the application directions of artificial intelligence (AI) technology for electric bus data research, with the aim of enhancing electric bus operational management and driving strategies. |
