Summary | In order to improve the domestic industry competitiveness and strengthen logistic services, this study planned and developed an intelligent fleet resources management system (IFRMS) for commercial vehicles. The IFRMS can assist freight carriers, 3PLs and other related industries to improve their fleet routing and scheduling efficiency, and enhance their customer service quality. Moreover, applying this system can also decrease their fuel consumption and air pollutant emissions. In summary, the contribution of the intelligent commercial vehicle transportation to our nation’s sustainable development can be achieved. This study is a three-year project. In the first year (this stage), the system analysis of IFRMS has been accomplished by reviewing the commercial fleet management systems, operation experience surveys, personal interviews and questionnaire surveys. This study discovered in the implementation process that most industries mainly focus on labor experience and do not have a complete information system for fleet management. Five subsystems, a total of 34 system functions, and 11 system modules in the IFRMS have been proposed, which include contract processing and tracking system, vehicle routing system, vehicle scheduling and dispatching system, automatic vehicle monitoring system and management information system. Furthermore, the key performance indexes of operator and pollution aspects to analyze the system performances of the IFRMS in the second year have been suggested. |
