Summary Flight safety is one of the most important tasks of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, so the Institute of Transportation has developed an information system for the inspection of airline companies to meet the need of Civil Aeronautics Administration. The architecture of this system is based on client-server under Microsoft NT environment. Microsoft SQL is adopted as a database server, while Visual Basic is used to develop applications. System functions include (1) the input interface for monthly plan, yearly plan, and inspection data, (2) query, statistics, reports, and (3) graphical representation of data analysis.

First, we review the process of inspection with the Flight Standards Division of Civil Aeronautics Administration (including the inspection items and inspection procedure), then develop the information system of inspection. This system has achieved the following objectives:

(1)To check the status of flight safety inspection and on-duty status of inspectors.

(2)To save the time of data process and statistics by the design of multi-condition query and statistic analysis.

(3)To automatically trace the unsatisfied items of inspection records to control the flight safety’s supervisory operation.

(4)To store the inspection records in computer for the follow-up research.
