Summary | To implement the MOTC’s strategies for promoting sustainable green transportation and to practice the policies of reducing carbon emission and conserving energy, the Institute of Transportation has developed various projects for energy transportation since 2007. Subsequently, this program was incorporated into the “National Science and Technology Program” framework from 2010.
The present study focuses on 5 main tasks, comprising: Revising the “Energy Consumption and GHG Emission Reduction Assessment Model for the Transportation Sector,” as well as evaluating and analyzing the emission reduction policies Enhancing and maintaining the “Energy Consumption and GHG Emission Information Platform for the Transportation Sector” Reviewing the structure and building the prototype of the “Transportation Sector’s Climate Change Policy Decision Support System” Conducting a survey on the energy consumption of freight cars Updating and maintaining the educational website pertaining to green transportation The outcomes and findings of the tasks 1 and 2 have been referenced by the MOTC for the development of several related policies, and have provided constructive suggestions for building the “Decision Support System.” The survey results of task 4 will be considered for estimating the GHG emissions inventory in the transportation sector. This study also has held three promotional events to supplement the website pertaining to green transportation, and subsequently raise public awareness involving green transportation concepts. |
