Summary | There is an inseparable relationship between land use and traffic demand. For example, large scale land development, first of all, would change the strength of degree of land use. Secondly, trip relocation and traffic reassignment would occur as a consequence. And the roads and transportation systems would be impacted. The traffic attracted by the large scale commercial development has the largest impact on the roads especially. In order to improve the traffic problems effectively caused by land development, the impact on traffic should be controlled in the beginning of planning, and the preventative and improvement measures should be proposed in advance. That is the reason why the Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA) is an indispensable part of land use management. Following the study made in 2006, we take a step ahead to extend and update the content of the GIS database, basic traffic database, related traffic parameters, related regulations and the data of accomplished cases. Furthermore, we add case inspection. This research completes the following works: Collecting and compiling data related the appraisal and inspecting of the transportation impact, Updating and maintaining the space database, Raising the function of geography information system, Planning the mechanism of the exchange of information on the traffic impact assessment, and Evaluating the feasibility of the combination with other traffic impact assessment software. The suggestions of this research are as following: In the mid-term, education and training are suggested to be adopted to conduct and promote the TIA. In the long-term, it is suggested to make regulations to ask every planner to upload the TIA related data.. |
