| Summary | Published in April 2003 IOT SERIAL No.92-46-5239，152pp. The first digital map specialized for transportation applications was released by the Institute of Transportation（IOT） in October 1998. The first version was based on the digitalization of topographic map which was surveyed and published by Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of China from 1985 to 1993. To meet the changes of the present roadway conditions and the needs of various applications, this study used DGPS（Differential Global Positioning System） equipment to collect the latest spatial data and update the digital map by referring to other map sources. Meanwhile, this new version of digital map adds the new layers including the roadway of which the width is greater than eight meters, administration area boundaries, rivers, lakes, railways, rapid transit systems, and landmarks. The outcome of this new version of digital map could serve as the basis of transportation related applications to reduce the unnecessary duplicate publications and expand the service objects and channels of Intelligent Transportation Systems（ITS） |
