Summary | Standardization of Pretimed/Traffic-responsive Control Logics: Planning Report Based on research findings from the first-phase results, this study aims to explore as well as to standardize various traffic control logic in the computerized urban traffic signal control system. Listed below are control strategies explored in-depth in this study: * Pre-timed Signal Control * Traffic-responsive Signal Control * Semi/Fully Traffic-actuated Control * Pedestrian-actuated Control and Flashing Control * Bus Preemption Control * Emergency Vehicle Preemption Control A set of system control procedure for traffic control strategies /functions, which can be programmed in and interfaced with another currently in-progress traffic control software development project, has been offered in this study. For system testing purpose, a set of timing plan generation software is also included. In addition, these offline and online operation methods for the control function logic and the interaction procedure of various control strategies are presented as well. Other outcomes are listed: * Segmentation principles of different signal groups * Interaction between signal groups * TOD division principle during control period * Signal timing transition method * Ways of dealing with different transport modes, i.e. passenger car, motorcycle, bus, emergency vehicles, etc. * Principles of traffic detector allocation and corresponding traffic parameters required for detection In addition to this planning report, there is a reference manual also. |
